Giving Liquid Medicine to a 2 year old
Any good ideas???
Logan is winning the fight right now.
Anyone have any tips for how to get him to take it?
We've tried covering his eyes, turning him upside down, sensible talking to him about how it will make him feel better, droppers, spoons, cups.

only way I can do it sounds mean but isn't..on my lap=headlock-and his arms held down-squirt thing in side of mouth.. then again thats how these monsters brush their teeth. You can also ask the pharmacist if u can put it in his juice something. Good luck woman! and miss ya!

Ok-don't call ACS on me
I put him in his highchair, put one arm across his chest and put the dropper in his mouth.
He cries, but its over ina few minutes, usually I give a good snack on the tray too

My Method:
Hold head back insert tube, squirt and once they take a breathe so they will suck it in. Done.
***bad mommy here** but it works and last 30secs!

Re: Giving Liquid Medicine to a 2 year old
Please, this morning I held his hands down with one arm, headlocked him with the other, DH covered his eyes and dumped it in.
So I'm right there in the "bad mommy" club.
It's a whole TSP and it takes 3-4 droppers to get it in him.
It's like torture. And after he just keeps saying: "Don't want it!! Don't want it!"

I have the opposite problem here -- if Jack sees a bottle of Motrin or Tylenol he grabs for it saying "Mmmmm" - he's like a little crack addict already

My BFF's son does this, and DRANK a bottle of infant tylenol (he's 15 months) luckily we learned from a call to poision control that it was ok

Lauren, I actually have a dropper that holds a whole tsp in it, so you only have to go in once.
For Lucas, he actually likes to do it himself. If I put the dropper in his hand (and kind of hold it along with him so he doesn't squirt it all over), he will eventually put it in his own mouth and I give it a big squeeze!

Where did you get it? Is it something I could get from CVS?

I think I got mine in one of the little health/grooming kits from BRU. Let me tell you, it's a lifesaver... you only have to get in the mouth once instead of multiple times!

Re: Giving Liquid Medicine to a 2 year old
I recently had to give DD amoxicillian and she spit it out every time. Called my doctor & he said I could put it in with her milk. She then wouldn't drink all of the milk so she didn't get the full dose. I then tried mixing it in ice cream which she has never had before & that worked!

Re: Giving Liquid Medicine to a 2 year old
Mollie loves medicine...If I say, we have to take medicine, she runs and loves it. This morning I gave her some decongestant and she asked for "pink medicine" and "white medicine" which were the antibiodics from the last time she was sick. Weird kid
Anyway...what about giving him a treat to hold...that he could eat after the medicine? A lolli-pop, or M&M's, special cereal, something he doesn't usually get? And then say, as soon as you take your medicine, you can eat it.

This is how my girls are too!
I just let them drink it out of the little cups and they love taking medicine.
