Giving medication
Any tips? She really hates it, and I don't blame her because it smells pretty vile. The only way we have been able to give it to her is to wait until she cries and squirt it in, but it seems so mean! We tried putting it in some formula but it doesn't seem to work as well when we give it to her that way.

Re: Giving medication
I know how you feel. I have to give Jacob medicine too every day and the only way i can do it is to squirt it in his mouth. He screams, but i usually give the meds right before i am giving him a bottle, so he screams for a second and then i stick the bottle in real fast and then he is fine. Good luck i know it is hard.. breaks your heart to see them hurting!

Re: Giving medication
One of DH's aunts gave us a pacifier that disperses liquid medication when the baby ***** on it. Its called "The Medicator". I dont know how effective it is since I havent had to use it. It might work or the baby might just spit it out because of the taste of the medicine.

Re: Giving medication
Did you get them to flavor the Zantac? They can flavor it with grape and while it doesn't totally take away the mint taste it cuts it down quite a bit. Miranda has always been pretty cooperative with taking her meds so I don't have any good suggestions. Sorry.

Re: Giving medication
Ok, I have becoem a real pro at this, get a really skinny syringe/medicine dropper, put the dropper as far back in the back of her mouth to the point that she gags a little bit and shoot it quickly toward the back of her throat, then give her a little blow in her face, it really works, it makes her swallow and the medicine never touched her taste buds. Good luck, you gotta be wuick when you do this, lay her on the floor and have someone hold down her arms.

Re: Giving medication
When we were in the ER, they would use a syringe and just squirt a little in at a time so he wouldn't spit it out (they don't really taste it much). It works, but you have to be patient because it takes some time.
