giving toddler a laxative suppositary- would you call ped first? wait?

DD is almost 3. she been constipated- not bad, but pooping hard, every 2-3 days for awhile. sun am- early am- she spooped, wiht HYTERICAL screaming that it hurts. she had an xray on mon (for another thing) , and they said she had a lot of stool in her.
i spoke to ped on mon, she has been on miralax since sun, also giving her flax seed oil. won't drink prune juice. still hasn't pooped. 3 days of miralax, still no poop.
how long can she go? do i give her a suppositary? btw, - today she was holding her butt, that's how she behaves when she holds it in
has anyone given a toddler a supposiatary? i'm scared she's going to freak out Chat Icon . would you call ped back? give it another day?

Have you tried lubricating her first before trying a laxative? Does she always actively withhold her stool?Chat Icon

I would call the ped first before using a suppository, even if they guide you over the phone.

DS has a problem with stool withholding. Our ped likes to get called when there is an "episode."

I dont think it's necessary to call before you use it. If it doesnt work than I would call tomorrow to see if there is anything else you can do.

My DS has major poop issues. He gets miralax everyday and if he doesnt go for 2 days he gets a suppository. I dont think you have to call the ped. to give it, especially if she is uncomfortable. If you give it and she hasnt gone by the morning then I would definitely call the ped.

DS did freak out the first tme I had to give it to him. The Dr also recommended to us to lay DC on their side so that the suppository does not leak out before it does what it needs to do.

How much Miralax have you been giving? It may not be enough to allow her to pass it, and still be unable to hold it.

3/4 cap. plus a tablespoon of flax seed oil. she's almost 3, about 26-27 pounds

Ok. usually a half a capfull would work for my DD at one year old+. I would call the ped honestly. I am sorry, it's so frustrating when they hold it.
