Has anyone done this? Did you hair change over time? I think I'm gonna do it. Seeking the experiences of other brave souls

Re: Giving up the blow dryer
Yes, but I never really blew my hair out anyway. My hair is too fine and flat to be worn blown out straight. When they do this at the salon after a cut I go running home to hide!
So what I would do is shower at night, put bodifying and texturizing product in and let it air dry before bed.
Then sleep with it in a bun or top knot.
In the am, I would use a curling iron to create smooth waves.
So in essence I was trading one heat tool for another so my hair didn't get any healthier.
But I can tell you, there was a time where I wasn't using the blow dryer OR the curing iron and just wearing my hair up a lot over the summer and I saw a big difference in health of my hair when I layed off ALL the heat tools

Giving up the blow dryer
Thanks. That's what I'm going to do - no tools at all.
I feel like if I let my hair air dry and I lay down for a nap or something (doesn't happen often) - my hair looks fine. And if I get caught in the rain? I end up with tons of fun curls.
But if i spend the morning blow drying and straightening it and then i indulge in a nap or get caught in the rain, it's all f'd up. It ends up a giant mess.
hair is so weird !

Honestly, if i had natural curls like you describe, I'd never ever blow them out or wear it straight. I am a huge fan of curls, waves, big volume. I think it looks so much better than pin straight hair (especially on me). So if you can do it, I saw go for it! It's so much easier and healthier too!

Re: Giving up the blow dryer
Start with a refreshed haircut and invest in satin pillowcase. Also hardest thing is when it's wet do not touch it until dry! Xozo

Re: Giving up the blow dryer
I use a blow dryer and other heating tools twice a week TOPS. I haven't had my hair professionally cut or colored in 14 years (I do it myself), and people often tell me they love my hair. So I guess it's working lol!

Re: Giving up the blow dryer
I've been putting my hair in a loose French braid at night with a little bit of styling cream and by the morning it has nice waves. I add some serum and I'm on my way.

Giving up the blow dryer
I don't I towel dry my hair brush it out towel dry again and brush then I twist it up and I let air dry. My hair is straight and fairly thin but it's much healthier than when I was a hair tool whore I used to use product, blow dry, and use a flat iron. It was awful!

Giving up the blow dryer
Yes! I stopped a few months ago. My hair is naturally curly and I would either blow dry and straighten or curl and blow dry. Now I just let it do what it wants and it looks nicer than before and within a few weeks a noticed a huge difference. I will occasionally straighten now but not very often. I also stopped shampooing for the most part too. I use a cleansing conditioner every other day and will shampoo a few times a month. Best part is it takes 2 minutes to do my hair now as opposed to almost an hour.
