Glider Question, Need Help :)
I finally convinced DH that we *need* a glider for the nursery. As I am sure you all know, these things are so expensive and I am trying to figure out what I really NEED. I am looking at Dutalier, and need to figure out if I need an ottoman, a locking feature to hold the chair in place, or a recline. Obviously any of these will up the price of the chair.
Of course, the glider will take 10-12 wks to get here, and I am 13 weeks away from my due date lol. I am so classic in waiting until the last minute for everything :)
I also saw some gliders on Sears.com, they are by Shermag and are so much less. Something tells me its too good to be true to get a glider & ottoman for $299 but if anyone has any suggestions other than Dutalier I am all over it :) TIA!!
ETA here is the one I am looking at: .

Re: Glider Question, Need Help :)
Look to see if anyone in NY carries Best Chairs. www.bestchairs.com
I got my glider and ottoman at USA Baby and its made by Best Chairs for$550. I got to pick any fabric I wanted. I didn't like the recline so I didn't get that, I don't plan on sleeping in it. I personally couldn't do without the ottoman though.
I am pretty sure Best Chairs are priced a little better than Dutalier but they are still great quality and very comfortable.

Re: Glider Question, Need Help :)
I have a regular old glider no locking and no recline we didn't get the ottoman either. To be honest after our daughter stopped sleeping in our room I have barely used it. Maybe if it was in my living room I would use it more but I really do not use it often enough but the first 3 weeks of her life it was used several times a night So for us all the fancy things would not have been worth it.

I got the cheap combo from BRU. It is not the best quality but its not terrible either. IMO, without the ottoman its not nearly as comfortable. Also , I did not use it nearly as much as I expected to, so I say go with less expensive as well.

I can't see spending that kind of money for a glider...as of right now, I'm not even going to get one. I like the one you posted, if that's the $299 one, then I say go for it rather than spending so much more.

Re: Glider Question, Need Help :)
This is a similar Dutailier rocker to the one I registered for. I am going to keep it in my living room, so I figured it will be worth it. I registered for the reclining one because it was SO comfortable. A lot of my friends said they used the (couch)recliners in their living rooms the most, so I figured the glider/recliner was the best combination. JMO.

Re: Glider Question, Need Help :)
I think the ottoman is a MUST with the glider. We use ours all the time for nursing, putting her to sleep and reading books.
We also didn't want to spend a lot and I thought this was a GREAT deal from walmart for $89 for glider and ottoman. Link here

Re: Glider Question, Need Help :)
Maybe its different for everyone but both of my friends who breast feed say that they used theirs a lot. But they breast fed for a year so maybe that's why. I plan on doing the same and comfort was important to me. I already spend a lot of time reading in mine because its so comfortable. My only suggestion is that I wouldn't buy something that you haven't sat in and tried out. More money doesn't necessarily mean better. I think it's all about what is going to be comfortable for you to sit in with your baby. This was the main reason I ended up with a traditional glider and an upholstered glider like I originally wanted. The glider was way more comfortable to me.
