Glucose, checkup, sono & rh shot all in one visit!!
Hi Guys
What a morning...I had my glucose test, check-up, sonogram and my RH shot all in the same visit!! I had to leave my doctors office and go over to North Shore Hosp for the RH shot. It was $82.00 (not covered) I had them give it to me there, Five years ago, when I had my son I had to bring the serum back to my doctor for him to give it to me but now NS does it. For all you girls that are worried, it did not hurt at all. They give it to you in the butt, in the muscle part, close to the top. Its a little sore but thats it, it was very quick, paying the bill for it was much longer!! I hope the glucose comes back OK. I'm 28 weeks and the baby is 2 pounds 12 oz

You're lucky - when I had the RH shot I had to pay $198 for it at the pharmacy!!
I had another this weekend at the hospital - can't wait for the bill!

I found out yesterday that my insurance covers it 100%. I have United Health Care. But you have to have your dr. fax the order to Pharma Care which is in PA and it is the preffered drug supplier for United. Pharma Care then overnights it to my dr.

Ugh I'm rh neg too (and DH is pos) so I'm pretty sure I have to take the rhogam also. I had no idea it was not covered- or that it goes on your behind!
ETA: It's great you got it all done in one day though!

I have CIGNA HMO and they paid for it. I just went to the hospital ordered and picked up the shot. I then brought it to my OBGYN and she gave it to me in my arm.

ALL health insurances should pay for this. It's medically necessary and you and your baby can develop serious complications without it. It's something that has to be approved through the medical portion of your insurance, not the RX portion. Those that have paid out of pocket, I would call customer service and find out how you submit a claim to get reimbursed through the medical portion, NOT RX.
I had to pay $189 out of pocket the first time I got it because they told me it wasn't covered when I called the RX number on my card. I ended up getting reimbursed. The other times I received the shot, the doctor had it in their office (or at the hospital) and the insurance of course paid for it when they billed them.

Thanks for the info...I will definitely look into this as soon as my boyfriend gets his results back.

I did not pay for this shot. My insurance covered it.
