Glucose Test/Big baby
Has anyone heard that if you fail the 1 hour test and pass the 3 hour test that means that your most likely having a big baby. This is what my doctor told me yesterday. Just curious if anyone else heard this.

Re: Glucose Test/Big baby
Well, I heard that if you fail it your body isn't breaking down sugar as efficiently as it should be, thereby making you and the baby store more of it (as fat).
Its my understanding that the baby could be bigger, but that it doesn't necessarily mean it will be.
I failed the 1 hr and failed one number on the 3hr and my baby is measuring average so far at 35 weeks...but I know in the coming weeks he could become above average and my Dr. is already talking about inducing me early since my pelvis is kinda small (all depending on the weight of the baby)
eta...I guess it depends too on how much sugar you eat!

I passed my 1 hour and still had a big baby with my DS. He was 9lbs 4oz.

I think that is nutty personally. I failed the 1 hour test and passed the 3 hour test and DS was born at 39 weeks exactly and weighed in a 6lbs, 10oz.

Not really. If you have GD it doesn't necessarily mean you eat a lot of sugar, it just means your body isn't breaking it down correctly.
I had hypermesis and had not even gained weight when I failed my 1 hour test, I barely ate anything, so it doesn't really have to do with what you eat. Unless you like, drink a milkshake on your way to the test
