Glucose Tolerance Testing
What should I do to prepare before the Glucose Tolerance Test, and what happens during the test?

Re: Glucose Tolerance Testing
I'm going in a week or so - they told me I don't need to fast, but not to eat anything too sugarery. I'm going to eat as usual - if I have GD i'd like to know.
Good luck!

Re: Glucose Tolerance Testing
Here's a tip....bring a straw! My SIL told me this after the 1 hour, and when I had to take the 3 hour (because I failed), I drank it through a straw....so much easier!!! Some people like the taste...I certainly did not! Good luck!

Every DR. seems to have a different opinion in terms of eating and drinking. Mine said not to have anything for an hour before I drink the glucose drink. My test was at 1:00. So I got up and had breakfast at like 8:30. Then I think I had a couple of berries around 10:30. I had the drink at 12:30, and they took my blood at 1:30. I passed the glucose without a problem, so I have to guess that the food was not a factor.

Re: Glucose Tolerance Testing
yes- it is true every doctor has a different opinion.
My doctor said- that the 1 hour fast is fine BUT it could affect the results.
So- I did mine at 9 am on an empty stomach- which is how I normally am at 9 am b/c I usually can't deal w/ breakfast until 10 anyway
