God parents
How did you choose your god parents? I have three brothers and he has one brother. How do we choose. He has a sister and i don't have any sisters. How do i choose one and not hurt the rest? How did everyone choose? How did you ask them?

Re: God parents
I know people that refused to pick a family member. They thought of "godparents" as a way of expanding their child's family.
I have 2 sisters. One didn't baptize their child so it was an easy decision. If you feel you need to pick out of your brothers, pick the one with the same ideals as you.

same here- i have three brothers, DH has one. so we didn't go with any of them. we are the godparents of DH's best friend's daughter, so we asked him to be the godfather and my best friend to be the godmother. i don't know if my brothers' feelings were hurt, but we went with who we wanted to. i hope they understand that. we asked both godparents the first time they met DD. they were both very touched & very excited. christening is in a few weeks.

Re: God parents
I have one sister, so that was easy. DH has two brothers, one of whom (the oldest) was *his* godfather as well as his best man, so DH chose him.
This time, we will choose DH's other brother and our SIL (wife of oldest brother). If we have a 3rd, we're not sure, but it will definitely be family.

Re: God parents
We chose my sister as she is closest to where we live as well as the fact that she is my closest sibling. She is also the only person I would want to take care of DD if anything were to happen to DH and I. For godfather DH chose his friend - not exactly my first choice but he is okay. He wont have much to do with DD as he lives in the UK.
I told my sister right after DD was born as she was in the delivery room with us - she was thrilled to bits. We told DH's friend a few weeks later.

Aside from my sister (your twin doesnt have to abide by any rules, all bets are off when it comes to her , we went with this idea too. We love our family dearly and just wanted to expand that.

Re: God parents
Well I have 3 brothers and 1 sister and DH has 1 brother and 1 sister. I could never choose between my brothers and part of me felt really bad because i know that 2 of them wanted that title (one of my brothers is 10 and he thought it was cool enough to be an uncle) and my sister is 15 and I thought that was to young. We ended up picking my cousin who DH is very close with and his sister. I am not sure who we are going to choose when the next one comes along.
