Going back to work - What is your routine?

What is your morning routine when going to work?

I start in a few weeks Chat Icon - this day seemed so far away - but not no more.

I have to be in the city by 9 am - and before that of course drop off the baby by mom or MIL -

What time do you ladies wake up? What time do you go to bed???!
Is your baby cooperative in the morning with such a mad rush out the door?

How am i going to do this?

Re: Going back to work - What is your routine?

Everyone's schedule is different but here is mine. DD wakes up between 5 and 6. Hubby or I will feed and the other will walk the dog. We put DD in her bouncy seat and DH takes her with him in the bathroom. She sits there while he showers or shaves. I either catch a few more zzzs or do some exercise or make lunches if I didnt do it the night before like I try to do and get DDs stuff together for daycare. Usually DD will get cranky and I will dress her and put her in her crib for a little nap. I can then go shower and dh can finish getting ready. By 745 we are usually out the door.

Re: Going back to work - What is your routine?

Like Erica said everyones schedule is different. My job is pretty flexible as long as I am there by say 10am. I go to bed around 10:30-11 and wake up around 6. Roman wakes up between 6 and 7. Usually I will change his diaper and DH will feed him while they lay in bed together. I will shower and get ready then change him into his clothes for the day and out the door to daycare. If I am in a rush or if DH leaves early I change him into his outfit right away and prop his bottle while I jump in the shower and get ready. Between showering, getting dressed and dressing and feeding the baby it can be done in about 30 minutes. I do my makeup while I driveChat Icon and always put all of my bags and bottles in the car the night before.

Re: Going back to work - What is your routine?

Let's see......... when I orginally went back to work DD would wake up in the AM anytime bet 5:30-6:30 am. I would be the one to feed and change her (this usually takes about 1/2 hr-45 mins). Once that is done i would play a little with her or she would watch some Noggins. I don't bring her to any daycare coz my DH goes to work at 2pm so he stays with her till 1:30 and MIL babysits till about 5:30 and DH comes in for dinner break till about 7:15 wherein I take over (as soon as i get home) to do the last feeding and put her to sleep. Granted I don't take me child anywhere but it is still hectic as sometimes i only see her for 15 mins at night as she is just beyond tired and needs to be put to sleep. Anyhoo- after she goes to sleep at night (anytime bet 7:30-8:30) i usually get the house ready for the next day, clean up, eat dinner and take a shower. By the time that is done it is already 9ish. I am usually alseep by 10:30 and the schedule starts all over again.

Re: Going back to work - What is your routine?

Well Ive learned to give myself time...
Time to unload the dishwasher or drink a cup of coffee...The days where I alot myself "just the right" amount of time... I get all frazzled, the baby dosent cooperate, I end up leaving w/o something... I hate feeling rushed.... and when I dont give myself that extra time in the morning- all chaos breaks lose!

Ok-anyway heres my sched:

I wake up around 5:15
Take a shower
get dressed
Do my make up
(Before Ryan outgrew that spitting up age- I would just put on a T-shirt until I was ready to walk out the door)

Around 6- DS wakes up
I give him his bottle
check my emails
turn on the tv
Straighten up

around 6:30
I feed DS and myself breakfast
6:45
Dress DS and blow dry my hair

7-
Load up the car
turn on the heat or AC

By 7:10
Im grabbing the baby and we are out the door

I drop DS off at one of the grandmas house @ 7:20 and am at work by 7:30..

I pack the diaper bag, and bottles the night before, and try to lay out DS clothes, and my clothes as well...the night before...

Re: Going back to work - What is your routine?

I remember being on maternity leave and thinking there was no way I could get ready in the morning in time for work, but things really do seem to have a way of falling into place. When DD was 3 months she was waking up around 6am, so I would wake up at 5:15, pump BM and then shower and start to get ready, when DD got up I would feed her and get her dressed and then a quick breakfast and we were out the door by 7:30 to bring her to my moms house. Things have gotten easier as she has gotten older, but as babies they quickly figure out the routine. You can do it!

Re: Going back to work - What is your routine?

My day starts pretty early, but helps me pace myself and not feel rushed. I do as much as I can the night before - pack his bag, prepare the morning bottle, pack my lunch and lay out mine and Nate's clothes. I try to go to bed between 11 and 12.

5:00 am I wake up, shower, get dressed
5:30 am DH wakes up, showers and gets dressed
6:00 am I give Nate bottle and then dress him, while DH walks the dog
6:30 am drop Nate off at day care (he eats breakfast there)
6:45 am park the car to catch the bus downtown (Sometimes DH and I will drive just so we can have some extra time together. The $13 we pay for parking is so worth it every once and a while)
7:30 am get to work

There are some days when I'm lazy and don't prepare the night before and that's when I'm making a mad dash for the door.

Re: Going back to work - What is your routine?

--Bella wakes at 7:30 and feeds herself the bottle now, so that's great.

--Get Bella and me ready to get out of the house (with my hair, I usually shower at night now, or if it's a day I am not blowing out hair, I'll jump in quick while she watches Elmo)

--Play with Bella until I am gonna be late or she takes a poop right before leaving the house, then run with Bella and ALL of her stuff AND my stuff for the car(mostly in shoes you should never run on)

--drive to daycare, drop Bella off at daycare, linger a minute or two too long daycare, race to the train in my car.

--park car sideways, run to the intersection, duck underneath the gates, run down the platform, find a seat on the train, finally catch my breath--go to work and pretend to be an adult--this is also where I usually have time to apply make-up

--run for train home...get home, Feed Bella, bicker with DH, bathe Bella, and play with her as she is in bed by 8 pm usually on the dot.

--eat dinner around 8:30-9 pm (Oprah is wrong, I have actually lost weight doing this because by the t me I have eaten dinner, I don't snack on anything at night anymore anymore)

--Repeat 5x a week while losing mind and sanity...(But also enjoy the extra minutes I take in the morning clapping hands before I have to Mario Andretti to daycare.)
