Same there. My DS just came out of this infant who is 17 months old and when I went shopping with him and he was sleeping I would put on top. There is really nothing to worry about, cuz you are not fare from them anyway. You have to do what right for you!

The store I go to has carts with infants seats welded right to the cart. They also keep antibacterial wipes near the carts so you can wipe them down before putting the baby in. I wipe down the seat and then put a receiving blanket down before strapping him in.

We also were putting DS in the bigger part of the shopping cart but I try to go shopping now when DH is home and I bring the snap and go and he pushes the cart, that way we can fit all of our groceries.
