Going Organic/Green with baby
Has anyone decided to go organic or green with baby? What items did you go organic with, and what did you decide wasn't worth it? Where did you find the best selection? TIA!

Re: Going Organic/Green with baby
When you say organic/green do you mean food or items like clothing, toys, etc?
For awhile, I tried to do mostly organic food with my DS. I shopped a lot at Whole Foods, Fairway, and Trader Joes. I still do, but have limited my selection significantly for 2 reasons: 1) it's gotten really pricey and 2) I've researched organic foods and found that people have a lot of misconceptions about them. For example, many people don't realize that organic fruits/veggies are also sprayed with pesticides, just different ones. So if something is on sale, I'll get it organic. Otherwise, I started going with conventional produce. I do happen to like organic meat, milk, etc. better and I find I can buy these things without breaking the bank. I also loved the Earth's Best organic baby food for DS. I love the Whole Foods generic (365) brand for organic cookies, crackers, etc. and find they are a really good price. Same goes for Trader Joes.
Regarding clothes, toys, etc. I really don't have too many organic or green things. If something is on sale or I see a really nice outfit for DS, then maybe. The same goes for toys. I do like the Born Free sippy cups and will probably use the Born Free bottles when my new baby is born.

Sorry, I mean toys, clothes, bedding, etc. I already do organic food for myself & DH and will continue that with DC when he/she arrives. I'm also wondering about BPA-free toys, I'm not sure they even make them.

Re: Going Organic/Green with baby
We actually try to eat organic meats, poultry, eggs and milk as much as possible, so will continue that with baby... I think when it comes to animal products its much more worth it.
As with fruits and veggies, we try to find in season and local produce, as it pretty much guarantees its low in pesticides and minimally treated. I read labels on everything, I really don't like buying anything grown outside of US or Canada.
As with clothes, and sheets, for a newborn .. up to 3 months, I will go out of my way to ensure anything against the skin is minimally treated. I don't think mattress is as big a deal, but I will be using an organic mattress cover and organic cotton sheets.
After a few months, I be more lax, I just feel its important during the early early months of development.
Diapers are something I'm not sure about yet. Still looking into it.
