Going to a Urologost After Cancer (MFI)
We are now in the process of reflecting on our two failed IVF cycles.
My DH had testicular cancer in December 2003 and then had chemotherapy Jan - Mar 2004. He froze sperm in Jan 2004 before chemo. He had 2 SAs after treatment, but both showed no sperm present. Since we began out TTC journey, he has only had a SA and has never been to a urologist. Out of his three SA, only 1 had any sperm (<250,000).
So my question is - Do you think he could benefit from seeing a urologist or would it just be a waste of money?
TIA

I would go. You never know what could come of it and they may be the best ones to help.

Re: Going to a Urologost After Cancer (MFI)
you can private message me if you would like- but my husband had cancer in his teens- he never froze any sperm. He went to a Urlogost recently and they rec doing a internal biopsy but the chances of finding a swimmer was slim- Our RE said the same as well, but also advised it was our choice to go thru it or now- we chose an alternate route feel free to message if you have questions;

Re: Going to a Urologost After Cancer (MFI)
If there was any sperm in an SA (even 5) then there's a good chance that a urologist can find sperm by doing a biopsy. However, the sperm may not be viable, mature enough or healthy. And, a biopsy is a painful procedure that takes months to fully heal.
However, you will never even know your options if he doesn't see a urologist. You might as well know what you're dealing with to make the best possible decision for the both of you.
