going to be godmother - question about letter from our parish
I was asked to be my niece's godmother. In addition to providing a copy of my baptismal certificate, I also need a letter from my parish basically stating that I'm a parishioner (and something about not being a sinner ).
Is this a common / form letter sort of thing that the church gives out? We moved recently and, while we are members in good standing in our church, we've only been there for a few weeks. Will they still give me the letter, or do I need to contact my old parish? I'm confused b/c my old parish can't say I'm a parishioner, but my new parish can't exactly vouch for me yet.
What do I do?
ETA -- I have been a godmother before and was never asked for this sort of letter. My godchild at that time was baptized in the church where I received all my sacraments, though...

My Church requires it for all baptisms. It's a sponsor certificate. It basically states you are a current practicing member of the church.
ETA: My DD's godparents had to get it from the church they did their sacraments or from a current church they could show them baptismal, communion, confirmation proof to get the certificate. I'd call the rectory of your old church first.

Thanks, I'll start there!
