Going to Chicago for girls weekend
I lived in the Midwest for years and never went to Chicago except to drive through.
Any recommendations on bars, lounges, restaurants and maybe some touristy things to do?

We went there for a girls weekend a few years ago. We stayed at the Hyatt on Wacker. Very nice hotel and AWESOME bar (the Big Bar). It has a great view of the city and they serve HUGE martinis. It was a lot of fun! We also went to the Baton Lounge, it's a drag place where they dress up like famous people and sing. It was a riot!

martini park is great for drinks and Howl at the moon was a great priano bar - make sure to get a jello shot from the shot guy

tavern on rush gets a good crowd on fridays
anything on rush street is great
also sushi samba is fun

Check out the restaurant/bar Japonais-it is AWESOME! We had one of our best meals ever there and it seems to have a nice bar crowd downstairs too.

Go to Navy Pier! They have tons of things to do there are bars, food, cruises, ferris wheel, etc. It is awesome Dh and I use to go their on the weekends when we lived there!

I had a great time at Howl at the Moon !! It's a dueling Piano bar, the place is huge and was packed when we went.

Go for a drink at the top of the John Hancock building, the view at night is amazing. Have a great time

We just got back from Chicago a few weeks ago. We did a food tasting tour with Chicago Planet Food Tours. I would highly recommend it! We had so much fun and tasted lots of good food. I found it on TripAdvisor.

i lived there about 8 years ago now, so i'm a bit rusty... but i would recommend:
a stroll downtown on Michigan (the Miracle Mile)
Grant Park is nice--have to see Buckingham Fountain. Also, across from there on Lake Shore Drive, you must do the Museum Campus (three museums and aquarium) and of course the Pier... OMG... i am forgettign the name, but it has the big ferris wheel.
If you like baseball, you MUST try to get to Wrigley Field. It is such an old-time classic field and the Cubs are kicking azz this year!
the Lincoln Park neighborhood is very nice and trendy and the zoo is there.
unfortunately, i can't tell you too much about the night life. I lived there are a full-time volunteer with a Catholic non-profit making a $100 a month, so i was not able to afford to go the clubs and bars much. but Damen Ave. was also trendy and young. Also Clark Street. Uptown by Loyola Chicago also has some good bars.
Have fun! and you must have a Chicago style hotdog and pizza! :)
