Going to Disney---carseats/car rental or not?
We are planning a trip to Disney with our 6 month old & 2.5 year old. We are staying at one of the disney hotels that has monorail to the magic kingdom & buses everywhere else. Therefore we weren't planning on renting a car. Has anyone else done this? Will we regret not having a car? Since I wouldn't have a car, I was thinking about getting the CARES restraint for the plane or should I still bring the car seats??

Re: Going to Disney---carseats/car rental or not?
My friend recently did this and did not regret not renting a car. We rented a car but, we stayed offsite.
If you are just doing Disney - there is really no need for a car, you will be taking their transportation everywhere - there's so much to see/do there's no need to really leave the property.
She left her carseat at home.

Re: Going to Disney---carseats/car rental or not?
US! We are going in 2 weeks. DD#1 will be 3 in June and DD#2 will turn one the last full day of our trip.
We are staying at the Poly - and not renting a car this time. We figured we will spend 80-90% of our time at the MK and EPCOT and maybe one morning at AK and one morning at HS. So there was no real need for the car b.c you can just wheel your stroller right onto the monorail. We picked the Poly so we could just walk to the TTC and hop on the EPCOT monorail and not switch. Although the Contemp or the new DVC resort there is nice b.c you can walk to the MK.
I am bringing one car seat for DD#2 and I got the CARES system for my DD#1. I know she will just keep opening her seatbelt to run around so I figured this would contain her better and they generally recommend under 40 lbs that it is safer to be in either a car seat or the CARES system.
You won't be able to use a car seat on the Magical express buses or the park buses.
Are you holding your 6 month old or buying your DC a seat. If you are getting a seat then I would definitely bring the car seat. Otherwise it is a toss up - if there is an extra seat on the flight they might let you use it for the baby but if not then you lugged it for no reason.

We went to Disney with DS when he was 11 months old. We stayed onsite at the Wilderness Lodge and used the buses and monorail. We did not regret not having the car seat at all.

Thanks so much for all the info! We are not planning to get a seat for the baby, so I guess I would lean towards not taking the seat. I thought about bringing the snap&go for the seat, but he will just sweat in it. I figure the stroller will be more comfortable when we are at the park.

We are also doing the Polynesian---please let me know how your trip goes, hope you have a great time!

Re: Going to Disney---carseats/car rental or not?
I have gone the past 3 years in a row starting when my kids were 11 months old. We always stay on disney property and have never brought car seats or rented a car. No regrets! Going again this year, no rental car.
