Going to relatives for Holidays? (Driving in car for long periods of time...)
We've been invited to my sil for x-mas and it would be at least 2 1/2 hrs each way.
Is that too long for a 1 year old to handle being cooped up in a car seat?

Well each child is different, but I would say no, because I know Julia would sleep most of the way.

Re: Going to relatives for Holidays? (Driving in car for long periods of time...)
I drive back to LI about 1x a month and it is 3 to 3.5 hr trip. On a few occasions I have been able to drive straight thru without stopping. But I usually end stopping off for lunch for about an hour to let her run around the rest area. She usually falls asleep for 1-1.5 hrs of the trip and for the rest I play her favorite songs and toss stuffed animals back at her. (I also keep a supply of sippy cups with water in the front to hand back to her when she drops hers. )
So I think you will be fine with a 2 hour trip.
Good Luck.

my husband and i took all 4 kids down to virginia this summer to go to virginia and then on the way back we went all the way to new hampshire. neither one of the drives bothered the kids. we made a few stops to eat of course but it took us 10 hours. (spencer the youngest was 9 months old.

I agree - both of my kids would sleep.
