Going to the Gym for the first time
Was anyone nervous about going for the very first time? I feel like an idiot that I don't know how to use any machines or what to do.

Re: Going to the Gym for the first time
I think its natural what you are feeling. There is so much "stuff" there it is overwhelming.
Maybe ask for an employee to show you how "stuff" works, like an orientation.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Going to the Gym for the first time
A lot of gyms offer 1 or 2 free personal training sessions when you join, though they may not advertise it. Ask! Also, definitely have an employee show you around.

Re: Going to the Gym for the first time
When I first started going to the gym I felt so dumb!!! You dont know your way around, dont always know how to use the machines, etc. My mom did too- she made me go with her the first time she went. Its totally normal! You'll be fine though!

Re: Going to the Gym for the first time
I was nervous the first time i went to a gym. Luckily I had a great workout buddy and my sister to help show me the ropes. I was a gym rat for a while, then i started working out on my own, mostly outdoors. Ask your gym manager if they offer free personal training sessions. Some gyms have roaming trainers on the floor trying to signup people or just to offer pointers. All of the machines have instructions, so use them too. You'll do great! Good luck!

Re: Going to the Gym for the first time
totally felt that was as well. i think most gyms offer a one time training with a trainer. if not, maybe investing in a session or two to make u familiar with the equipment would be a good idea too. or take someone with you that could help u out.
eta:: when i first started i would get on the treadmill or elliptical and watch other people use the machines so i knew how the worked, LOL. a little trick i used
