Going to the RE tomorrow for the first time...

and I'm so nervous Chat Icon

I have PCOS and am hoping the doctor can help me.
If I tell him that we want to be aggressive about this situation, what do you think he might suggest? What would the first step usually be? (I'm addressing this situation to anyone who's been in the same boat as me).
TIA

First of all: Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It'll be ok- just make sure you have your list of questions that you want to ask him and relax.
I think he'll go over your bloodwork w/ you and get a feel for where you and DH are as far as TTC. Then I think he'll prescribe metformin if he feels that it's needed, based off of your bloodwork and tell you to get adjusted to it over a few weeks. He'll find out where you are in your cycle and probably go over your cycle w/ you--- to find out if you have a normal cycle or an extended cycle... he may order diff. blood tests depending on where you are in your cycle (ie: to see if you've ovulated).
I would stress your concern as far as TTC and wanting to start ASAP. HTH!!! Good luck!!!

BTW- I don't know how i ended up sending you a FM saying this-- I was trying to post it on the board... Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Going to the RE tomorrow for the first time...

As MrsMessina said you'll need more testing - an HSG, SA for your DH, fasting glucose test.

For us, we wanted to be aggressive so I was given Provera to get AF (it had been a while) and then I went right on Clomid after AF came. If Clomid had worked we could have done IUI at that point. I was not prescribed Metformin.

Good luck tomorrow!

If you don't mind me asking, what did your RE suggest when you first met with him? I too have PCOS.
