Gold Star Flooring

I saw people on here had used them, so I called to get our third and final quote to refinish our hardwood floors. The first to prices we got to sand/stain/clearcoat were both over 2 grand. For just sanding and clearcoat were over 1500.

So- I called GoldStar and they came out today. They quoted me a full THOUSAND dollars less than the other 2 companies. I couldn't believe it- booked them on the spot for 3 weeks from now.

Anyone have reviews for them?

we used them... they gave a good price, and i liked the guy who gave the quote. they were a little messy (got stain all over my mouldings), but they offered to come back in and fix them. My husband did it.

My floors look nice, but overall I wouldnt recommend them. I went by all the reviews on this board and was very disappointed.

We went with a dark stain ( dark walnut) and they got it all over the bottom of our LIGHT kitchen cabinets. Where there was carpet upstairs ( which they replaced with floor)...instead of unscrewing our closet shelving to remove the carpet and do the work...THEY just bent the bottom of every closet organizer ( the metal shelving units)and destroyed them so I had to put in all new shelving.

They switched crews in the middle of our job, so the second crew forgot to cover the dips before doorways with a wooden Saddle. ( we had just wholes left) They had to come back to fix and we screamed.

Lastly, they never remembered to resand the Staircase railing ( which was so rough to the touch). Luckily my painter fixed it for me.
Sorry to give such a negative review, but these are things I wished I knew before using them.

I really liked them, they did a great job. I had 2 spots in the house that needed new flooring and you can barely tell the difference. My house was empty and had no moldings bc they were working alongside our contractors, so there was no mess here

Re: Gold Star Flooring

They were the cheapest quote we got by far. They did a FANTASTIC job on our floors but yes, they did get the stain on the moldings. We had the same situation as the PP though, the house was vacant and our contractor was replacing the molding anyway so it didn't matter to us. Maybe you can speak to them prior to hiring them in regards to being neat or cover up the molding somehow?

from my experience, i would just cover your mouldings in blue tape before they come. it would have been easier than having to repaint them all.

We used them in July because of everyone's recommendations on LIF. Add us to the list of satisfied customers.

I thought they did a great job on our floors too and were definitely the cheapest. The house was empty when they came, which I guess makes a difference. They also were in and out in one day because we didn't have that much flooring done.
