Good books for 4th grade
What books should I get to help fill my library in my classroom? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Re: Good books for 4th grade
*ANYTHING Cynthia Rylant (great for read alouds in RW) *Gordon Korman *Judy Blume *Loius Sachar *Roald Dahl *Chris VanAllsburg (again, great for RW) *Any and all NY/US history books esp fun picture book ones. (I have many titles at school if you want ideas) *Ann Cameron (for the lower readers) *Anthony Horowitz (for the higher readers) *Sharon Creech
I agree also to get the Guiding Readers and Writers for lists in the back for ideas.

Re: Good books for 4th grade
Another good series is Hank Zipzer. Henry Winkler (The Fonz) is the author and they are great books! They are good for all kids, especially the kids with learning disabilities, or "learning challenges", which they are called in the book. The stories are really funny (for kids and teachers)! Really good for the character units of study and social issues.
The Chronicles of Narnia
The Series of Unfortunate Events
Kate DiCamillio: Because of Winn Dixie, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Tale of Desperaux
Ann M. Martin: A Dog's Life

Re: Good books for 4th grade
agree on all of the above posts...
i also love Jerry Spinelli and Patricia Reilly Gift and Johanna Hurwitz.
I also like the classics, E.B. White, Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume (watch with some of her books... her young adult ones are a little risque)
The kids love the Narnia series now with the movie just out last year, anything sci-fi is big now and motivates them.
