Good news about baby Sydney
Those of you who are praying and following my friend's story- I just wanted to share her email with all of you.
Well after a nice quiet week (no major dramas) we headed into what became a big weekend of first for little Sydney.
Saturday morning brought a big milestone in that Sydney hit the 2lb (910g) mark which is a huge deal in the world of preemies. We're just waiting for her to hit 1 kilogram (1000g or 2.2lbs).
Sunday we took the Savannah and Shelby for their weekly visit and they got to see her very up close (no touching yet though). Sydney responded well and opened her eyes for the girls which made they squeal (quietly) with delight.
To our surprise we also got to give Sydney her first meal of 1 ml of breast milk. She has successfully digested it as of this morning and so her little eating regime has slowly begun (they will give her 1ml every 12 hours until further notice - talk about a supermodel diet!!!!)
Little dips in the roller coaster, Saturday they had suspected a heart murmur but Sunday's echo-cardiogram revealed that her heart is fine and nothing was found. She still continues to struggle with her breathing\wet lungs but this is common for her age and size and we're just hoping the weight gain and now feedings will help turn this around.
Please continue to pray for us, all of this wonderful positive energy and prayer is definitely working and Cary and I are eternally grateful to all of you for what you bring to our lives and that of our 3 precious girls.
On Sunday during our visit the nurse turned to us and said "would you like a picture of all 5 of you?" We looked at each other in surprise and realized, yep that's right there are 5 of us.
Here is our first family pic celebrating Sydney's first lunch :)
I didn't post the pic since I don't feel this is my place but I wanted you all to know how much the prayers and good thoughts are working. Thank you
