They are OK. Nothing too special. I order from Omaha occasionally... but only when they have super overstock or clearance deals on top sirloins or filet mignons.
Usually you can get much better deals if you go to a butcher... or even a place like BJs.
But for a gift it could work. But remember they ship you the steaks frozen. If you don't mind giving a gift that comes in a big syrofoam white cooler-looking box.
Omaha expensive shipping usually kills a lot of deals for me.

Re: good present or bad present....
Also... Omaha steaks are usually very SMALL. That cheap a price... they are probably 5 or 6 ounce steaks. Thats not very big for a guy. Hell when I go to a steakhouse... I usually eat 10-14 ounce steaks.
When I cook Omaha for myself... I usually cook two.

I like their filet mignon, but the sirloin was not great.

Re: good present or bad present....
Oh... if its a gift to be shipped then that works good.
Don't get me wrong... I like Omaha. I just haven't ordered from them for a while cause I have been getting my meat at BJs. $9.99 a pound for Filet Mignon is a great deal there.
Take my advice on one thing though... when you call to order... give them a fake phone number if you can. (or give them a phone number of someone you dont like )
Once you get on their list... their telemarketers will call you CONSTANTLY to order more. It actually gets a little annoying.

Oh lord I can't deal with telemarketers
I like BJs meat too. My brother in law and sister in law have 4 kids (and the first pregnancy was twins ) So that where they do most of their shopping I just thought this was a good idea plus we usually spend a lot on the kids and try to not spend a lot on the parents (that sounds kinda mean)

Re: good present or bad present....
Yeah the telemarketers were getting bad.
But I have to admit... I gave them the old "I wish to terminate this business relationship... please take me off your list" deal... and they never called me again after that.

Re: good present or bad present....
They do call ALL THE TIME once you order once. But I really like them as does DH.
Our boss always sends a big thing out to all his direct reports at work and they are much appreciated.
I say good present!!

Re: good present or bad present....
i always order from omaha steaks (poultry, fish and beef) but much prefer the filet mingons over the top sirloins. i received the knives as a gift 1 time and they are not the greatest.
awesome gift idea, just wouldn't recommend the top sirloins.
i have been ordering from them for years and NEVER received a phone call.
