They are often refurbished. They were probably trade-ins or cameras that were repaired and are "as good as new", espcially if B&H will guaratee them

Yes they're used (hence in the "used equipment section").
I know B&H is pretty good in terms of guarantees.
I just know several moms were looking for cameras & this is the best way of affording a good digital SLR IMO.
