I usually go to the sports bar around the corner. Its pretty good. I forget the name, I think Cafe something. And if you are looking at the front entrance to MSG its on the street to the left. Sorry - I'm really bad with NYC streets

There is one across the street that in the summer time has the roof top open - I have been there a few times - great time - I forget the name though

Local West. Red awning. Great bartender there too. It is across from the 8th avenue exit where you can go in for LIRR & Amtrack.

Re: Good restaurants around MSG?
My fave is Stout at 133 W 33rd - there menu is pretty diverse and everything I have had is yummy. They have a raw bar, salads, burgers, steak, etc.
Mustang Sally's in on 7th on between 29th & 30th (maybe 30-31) - a good menu a little nicer then your typical bar menu.
Nick & Stef's is a steakhouse right in the garden (on the 33rd street side near 8th Ave) that I have been wanting to try.

Cafe 31? I have been there a few times with work people - I have only had buffet type food though, which is pretty good.
There is also Tupelo (mostly seafood), Niles(all kinds of food), and Friday's if you want that sort of thing.

This steakhouse is pretty good. You should try it when you get a chance.

Also across from Nick & Stef's is Tupelo Grill if you're not into steak.

That's Cafe 31. It's on 31st. The food is pretty good.
Mustang Harry's is really good Pub Fare food. That's on 7th and between 29 and 30 (?) Or Sally's which is right past there.
