Good Sam vs South Side
Im just curious to see what people thought of these 2 hospitals as far as delivering there. I have heard mix feelings about both. My DR if affiliated with only Good Sam and Stonybrook. If you can let me know pros/cons of each if you can that would be great!
Thanks!

Re: Good Sam vs South Side
I delivered at Southside and had the best experience. The nurses were so great and caring. I also got the private room which is worth the extra money IMO. And their visiting hours are great too.

Good Sam. My daughter was in the NICU for a week and they were wonderful. I can't praise them enough.

Re: Good Sam vs South Side
Good Sam does have private rooms. I was in one in November 2007 when I had my DS. I hope to be in another private room this November when I deliver this DC. Yes they are small but I was more concerned with the privacy vs size. I had a wonderful experience at Good Sam and wouldnt want to go to any other hospital.

Re: Good Sam vs South Side
I just took a tour of South Side where I will be delivering and they do have private rooms. The maternity ward is spotless, pretty new, and the staff seemed very friendly. The private room we did visit is small but I'm still hoping to get one. Otherwise, you share two to a room and those rooms were much larger. When I visited my BF at Good Sam there were no private rooms available, and I thought the shared rooms were very small. She had a good experience at Good Sam because her daughter was also in the NICU born at 25 weeks and now at almost 2 years old is doing great. I myself don't like Good Sam...I had to go to the emergency room there once and had a horrific experience. IMO I like the fact that South Side is a smaller hospital, I feel like you get better care.

Re: Good Sam vs South Side
I've heard good things about both. Many of my friends delievered at South Side, and had very positive experiences. Two people I know just delievered at Good Sam and said the same. My docs are associated with Good Sam, so I will deliver there!

Re: Good Sam vs South Side
I delivered at Good Sam and had a horrible experience from the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left. And I am a nurse. Not that I think I should have gotten any special treatment but I thought they would treat me nicer than they did. They put my epidural in but the nurse never turned it on and I kept telling her how much pain I was still in and she told me just to breath through it. I ended up with a c-section and the nurse was ****** because her shift was over and now she had to stay for my c-section. She said"Ain't that Murphy's law". I was so upset. Post partum: No breastfeeding help. There was a girl from my lamaze class that delivered the same day as me and we had to help eachother. You never know who your nurse is the whole time and I had to go hunt them down at the desk to get anything for pain. I cried because of the pain and the breastfeeding troubles and all they did was give me the meds said feel better and walk out. Not can I help you with something. I was very disappointed in Good Sam. I now have to always have c-sections so I am going to Southside. I have heard nothing but great things. Good luck to all you new mommies to be.
