Got an interview...Help!
I have not been on an interview in a while, especially for a large organization. It's at a big hospital, I'm meeting with the HR dept first, then the hiring manager. It's a mid-level corporate position, not management, more of a coordinator.
They asked to bring references and I will not be able to contact the few that I have by tomorrow. I got the call this morning and set it up for tomorrow morning, so I'm not sure if I'll get in touch with everyone by then. Can I tell them that I will send my references next week?
Is it okay to have papers in front of me during an interview (my resume, the job description, anything I've printed out from their website, etc.)?
Do I wear pantyhose in August with a suit/skirt? I have a taupe colored suit and a black one, do I have to wear black??
Does the top inside the suit matter LOL? I mean the color, style, etc?
I have longish hair, up or down?

I dont think you need to wear pantyhose in August with a suit/skirt. I just had an intvw today and didnt wear pantyhose. I WOULD wear black though...

I have longish hair, up or down? Whatever you feel more comfortable with. I say down.

Nothing wrong with having a copy of your resume and whatever other info you have about the corporation.
I would def wear the black suit and I always wear my hair down but thats just me. As long its neat you'll be okay
If they asked you to bring references then I would bring them just in case.
BEST OF LUCK!!

Re: Got an interview...Help!
I always wear pantyhose to interviews (like today - boy was I warm!). I also wore a black suit and a light blue button down top, black heels. One trick I do is dressing as lightly as possible while commuting on a hot day and then finding a bathroom (starbucks, mcdonalds, wherever) to put on finishing touches. today i just wore a tank top and suit skirt, carried blouse and jacket on a hanger, and put pantyhose on in bathroom too.
i've never heard of anyone asking for written references, but I have provided names and numbers. I usually just email the person beforehand to let them know. These people know they're my references so it's it's not a big convo.
I have a black suit, gray suit and a brownish/taupish suit. i wear black for first interviews, gray for second and taupish one if I have a third, which rarely happens. I always wear a blouse in light blue, medium blue, or white. I work in a conservative field so splashy colors are not the norm.
HTH and Good Luck!!!

Re: Got an interview...Help!
conservative job, yeah pantyhose.
i know, it's hot.
I agree about changing in a bathroom nearby and then changing back.
Commit the job description to memory. Definitely have copies of your resume and give them your references on paper.
If they have asked you for things, you need to deliver. It will put you ahead of the pack and it's the professional thing to do. Be prepared.
and most of all good luck!!
eta: wear whatever color you feel confident in and the same about your hair. If you think it will be a pain to leave it down, put it up.
Light daytime makeup and light color polish if you can if at all. Closed toe shoes, minty breath.
Remember to get a business card from the people you meet and send a thank you immediately after as soon as you can.
More than you asked but I wanted to give you some other advice.

Thanks, I think I did all of the above lol! I ended up wearing a pant suit so didn't have to worry about pantyhose. I wore a thin white tshirt inside and kept the suit jacket buttoned, I was dying by the end of the interviews. I'm glad I went more conservative though, the corporate HR office was just that. I gave my references on paper and just asked for them to let me know if someone will be contacting them. The HR person said she usually does that. I sent thank yous by email to both the HR person and hiring manager and personalized them both.
The difficult part is waiting and wondering whom I'm up against. They just started interviews and will be doing more the next 2 weeks ugh!

More importantly, did you like the job as described, the environment, the people you met?
For your next interviews have some questions to ask. Speak in full sentences and keep slang out.
Different outfit, same idea..
Come with your resume-have the references with you but only give them if asked.
Notify all of your references now.
Get em!!!!!!
