Got some blood work
I think I have to see an RE my Dr was not supportive as I had a MC/eptopic in Sept and didn't start trying again until October so to him we've only been trying 8 months. I had to pull a scam just to get the blood work I wanted. I think my progesterone is low. It is 5.4. I also found out I hve high triglycerides and cholesterol which I don't think have anything to do with pregnancy. My thyroid seems OK and they didn't check my glucose. Redstar had sent me a link to a website that says Dr's like to see a progesterone level of 10+ if you are not medicated. I think it's unbelievable if i have had to wait this long to get PG just because of progesterone!!

Re: Got some blood work
Oh boy I wonder if we have the same OB.... mine wanted me to keep trying -- WAIT 3 cycles after my mis to even strat trying (and it took me 3 months to get AF besides) and give it another 6 months at least before doing anything .... he did NOT want to do blood test -- and I am 39!!
I would say yes see an RE - can't hurt!!

Re: Got some blood work
I would go straight to the RE.
I was 34 when we married last July and was annovulatory for YEARS. I had charted for two years before and my charts look like EKG reading, not an average woman's chart.... NO ovulation in two years so... I LIED... I was married in July, got my period at the end of July and called an RE in August... appointment in Sept. I lied and told them we were trying for a year. Good thing too because it took them 5 months and 4 cycles to get me to ovulate one follicle
I justify my lie because:
1. we are both 35 plus
2. I had the symptoms of PCOS for almost ten years, complained to a few OB/GYN's about it and was always told, "Oh, don't worry, we'll cross that bridge when you get married and want kids." UM.... HELLO... I am not getting my period regularly, kids or no kids, there is a problem and let's treat it
Well, I'm now on my second RE, second IUI cycle with them and still no baby. I'll be 36 in October... not 26, I don't have the luxury of time. Had I not lied I'd be 37 before I'd have a possibly pregnancy.
I say go straight to the RE and fudge the dates if necessary.

Re: Got some blood work
What if they ask for my records? Do you know anything about the progesterone levels? I do ovulate. My FSH level was good from what I undertstand(3.6) and get my periods like clockwork. Except for one month it took 36 days which could have been a miscarriage cause by low progesterone! Thanks girls. Good luck. I will be 32 nect week and would like to have 2 so I need to get moving!

Re: Got some blood work
MAke sure you know what day your progesterone was on. Are you sure it was CD 7?
I know first time around, my OB sent me on the wrong day.
ETA- also how long did it take you to get PG with the M/C?
M/C sometimes happen for no reason and if you got PG within 6-8 months that time from trying, thats actually normal.
Did they give you a reason for the M/C?

Re: Got some blood work
CD 7 no, CD 26 I think. But I thought it should always be above 10? We got PG first try with the MC. I was told it may have been an eptopic pg but I don't think it was. I had to take methotrexate because my levels were not going down(thi is why they thought it was an eptopic) Nothing was seen on the U/S and I did pass some TMI...tissue. I think I am still going to an RE because I do not feel like a regular Dr is proactive enough. Thanks everyone

Good For you! You shouldn't have to worry if your regular OBGYn doesn't agree with you going to a RE. If I would of known then what I know now, I would of gone straight to a RE. But, at 33 (at the time) my OBGYN mentioned to wait a year. Argghhh, I could just Kick myself!!!

Progesterone should be done , I meant to say 7 days past ovulation or on CD3.
Cd 26 is not going to tell you much at all, its not normally tested on that day.
If you do go to an RE, you may want to fib a little about how long you were trying....some RE's wont accept anyone under age 35 unless they have been trying over a year with no pg's.
Wishing you TONS of luck!

Re: Got some blood work
Remember you have the right to ask for what you want. If nothing else, I have learned to be more assertive in all this. Ask, ask, ask....you have a right! Plus they get paid again for another visit to interpret the results so why should they say no! :)
