Got the carseat inspected

and WOW!!
What a difference it made to have it looked at by the Police! I went to the Riverhead PD and Officer Morris was really nice and showed me everything about the seat. I thought I had it done right, but I was so wrong!

He undid what I did and then re-did it himself. He climbed into the car, pushed as hard as he could on the baby seat base and strapped the seatbelt through. It is SO MUCH tighter than it was before! What a difference!!

The trick is - click the belt into the latch (the metal part). Then, pull out the belt as far as it goes until it locks. Then, pull the belt as *tight* as you can through the metal latch (the lap part of the belt) and let the belt retract up top. It makes a world of a difference!!!

80% of car seats are installed improperly!

I would TOTALLY recommend that you have yours checked out. I thought I was a cheeseball for doing it - but I feel 110% better for going now!

thanks! I am going to have this done once my Thanksgiving company leaves..(I still need the room in the car right now)

same thing happened to me. He said I did a good job, but not good enough He took it out and redid it. He even told me you shouldn't use the mirrors or sun shades that roll up/down because if you get in an accident they could go flying and hurt you or the baby. He said to get the shades that stick to the window - I still may use the mirror though

I also heard not to put any hanging things in front of the baby for that reason.
