Got the sweetest gift from a student!
What I love about it is that it's so meaningful! Especially cuz I mostly get chocolates and gift cards.
One of my kids (4th grader)- who drives me crazy on a regular basis but has come a long way this year...he gave me this cute little holiday decoration- a little house with all these little jingly things (hard to describe) and on the front it says "Jingle Bell Rock" - which was the big showstopping number in our concert. I can just imagine he saw it and thought of me- isn't that the sweetest? He was so excited to give it to me, it was the cutest thing.
Last year a 1st grade boy gave me a book with the illustrations to "Silent Night" which was one of our songs as well. His Mom cried when he asked to give it to me because I was the first adult he wanted to give a present to without Mom's suggestion. So cute!
Besides all the fluff gifts, anyone have any 'meaningful' gifts to share from over the years? This is only my second year so this is what I've got so far!

Re: Got the sweetest gift from a student!
I'm also a music teacher, and one of my students gave me personalized note pads that say "A Note from Mrs. Wxxx" and has music notes all over it. I thought that was really thoughtful, but one of the cutest things I got yesterday (which was the day of our concert), was a handmade card by a first grader. I could totally tell she came up with this herself. She took words from the different songs we sang and came up with a card. The front of the card said, "Dear Mrs. Wxxx, I'm in the spirit, the holiday spirit" (words from a song we sang), and the inside said, "And I got a hunch that it's gonna be a nice, nice Christmas this year!" (also words from a song). I thought that was so cute. The gift cards and what not are nice, but I love when I get something made with love from the kids

Oh yeaaa! Another music teacher!
That card is just too sweet!! How did your concert go? I was done yesterday as well and already wondering what to do next year- I'm still too new to this and need help with repertoire for the littlest ones!

The concert went amazingly well! I have a first grade through fourth grade chorus and a fifth through eighth grade chorus. I like Music K-8 for the little ones, then I just use either poppler's music or jwpepper for the older kids. HTH!

Re: Got the sweetest gift from a student!
Meaningful gifts definitely are the best. I've only gotten a couple this year (tomorrow's the big day for that kind of stuff), but one kid got me a thank you gift for writing her college rec, and she got me the DVD of the 1940 version of Pride and Prejudice because she read it in my class last year, and she couldn't believe that I hadn't seen the Olivier movie. (She loaned me the VHS last year.) THat was definitely way up there on my list of favorite gifts.
