Got vines? Break out the fishing line.
I always thought if I wanted vines, I had to get those wood trellises with the diamond pattern. I found out I was mistaken many years ago at the Balcony Gardening forum over at GardenWeb.com. I've never had a balcony, but they were a friendly, knowledgeable group of people that didn't mind party crashers.
Someone had posted these amazing pictures of their Morning Glory flowers trained against a fishing line trellis and I was smitten. I don't know if she came up with the idea herself but her trellis eventually filled in to provide a complete screen of bright blue flowers on her balcony. She had used those cheap screws with the hooks on the end to anchor it on the top and bottom, and just ran the line any which way she wanted.

I saw these recently at someone's house by my home. So nice looking! But vines are not for me. I hate them no matter what.
