Id love to make a basket for my sil for her birthday. She's obsessed with cooking and baking, so I was thinking of adding some gourmet ingredients. Any suggestions? Also where would one purchase these lol (I'm so not a cook)

Sur La Table or Williams Sonoma might have gourmet baking ingredients. For non-baking ingredients, you might want to try Iavarone Brothers in New Hyde Park or Woodbury.

Re: gourmet ingredients
Also, Penzey's Spices in Carle Place (in the same shopping center with Hale & Hearty) has some really nice and unique spice blends. There's also a Stew Leonard's Wines in the same shopping center.
P.S. This is a very thoughtful gift idea for your SIL.

Also look at TJMaxx, Marshals, and HomeGoods - they sometimes have interesting food/ingredients in their kitchen aisles

Re: gourmet ingredients
I agree with Penzeys Spices. They have a ton of interesting and gourmet spices and seasonings and oils and baking goods. It would be a good start to look around.

Nice idea! I shop for things like this at TJ Maxx and Home Goods.
Some fancy ingredients that I'd love to get in a gift basket (cause they are too expensive to buy everyday) are saffron, real Madagascar or Mexican vanilla beans, fancy olive oils or balsamic vinegars, gourmet sea salts

You can go to an olive oil specialty store and make a basket - they have delicious and interesting oils, balsamic vinegars and salts. I did this and it was a big hit!! I'm obsessed with different olive oils, they have things like bacon, herb infused oils, jalapeño etc!

Re: gourmet ingredients
Not really gourmet, but I've made people baskets with different marinades and such from Trader Joes. I know a lot of people like them but don't shop there often because they are often not close by.
