Gov Paterson and the Budget "crisis"
Seriously, can someone tell me how we are in a budget crisis? We pay some of the highest property taxes and income taxes in the country
does this belong on the "this sucks" thread
bc excess taxes do suck...

Wall Street revenues (and overall tax revenues from NYC) are expected to be down a great deal this year. Many parts of upstate NY are in very bad shape, so not much tax revenue coming from there either.
While our property taxes are ridiculous, they aren't enough to bail us out of the mess the markets are in now.

So then who's authorizing the gigantic bonuses on wall street? It doesn't ad up. There are people still maying pay in this climate.
