Re: Graco Infant snug ride car seat
It's based on size (height and weight)
DS is 6.5 months and is still using his. He's 19lbs and 26.5 inches

Re: Graco Infant snug ride car seat
Depends on the size of the baby. I think we were pretty much done with it at about 5-6 months, but there is a boy at my DS's daycare who is still in his at 10 or 11 months. My DS is big for his age, and I think the other boy is on the smaller size for his age.

It all depends on how big your DC is. I believe the Graco goes up to 23lbs. We used it until DD was about 8 months.

I answered on your other post but agree with the PPs.

Re: Graco Infant snug ride car seat
My DS used it for 10 months in my car and 11 months in DH's car. He probably would have made it to 12 months but he was getting heavy in it.

Re: Graco Infant snug ride car seat
It depends on how quickly your child grows! DD was 9 lbs 4 ozs at birth and 20 inches. At 1 year DD was only 29 inches and 20 lbs 1 oz. Because the seat says up to 29 inches we switched her ay 11 months to the convertible seat.

Re: Graco Infant snug ride car seat
My DD is 8 months and we're still using it. she hasn't been weighed since her 6 month check up, but my guess is that she is 18lbs. The hardest part right now is that she is wearing a winter coat and that is adding bulk so the straps are getting tight. If I strap her in with no coat (we were in FL last month and I did this) she had tons of room still.

Just an FYI, DC should not be wearing a winter coat in their car seat! It is dangerous b/c teh straps will compress to the jacket and not to the baby.

That makes sense, but I've never heard it before. All the babies at DD's daycare wear coats in their seats. And my friend just had a preemie at 34 weeks and the NICU did a "Carseat Test" before she could leave. They fit the baby into the seat while still on a heart rate monitor and watch them for a while. They would not let my friend use her Bundle Me, but did put a coat on the baby, and she was itty bitty. That would make me think its safe since the NICU was pretty strict about everything.

Re: Graco Infant snug ride car seat
It depends on the child - at 2 months Jack screamed bloody murder in the carseat all the time. I switched to the Marathon and he was fine. I've known babies to be in it up to a year.

Re: Graco Infant snug ride car seat
i just changed DS out of his last week after he went to his 1yr check up. he was 21.5lbs and 32inches. he was fine in it. now, in the roundabout, he's not crazy about it. he's been screaming and arch his back to get out as soon as i unbuckle 1 portion of it.

Re: Graco Infant snug ride car seat
Really depends on the size of your DC. a child on the smaller side will fit more comfy in there longer. DD was in there til about 7 or 8 mths.

My opinion ... I see your logic but it is true; it's not suggested that children wear thick snowsuits or winter coats under the car seat straps. Since impact of a collision may cause the coat to compress which would then make the straps extremely loose, allowing a child to possibly be ejected. I use the Bundle Me and it keeps my DD very warm. Here is a video that shows what could happen... CarSeat Video

I get the concerns and have tried the bundle me and no jacket. But b/c DS is 7 mths and can sit up if I go to the grocery I am screwed unless I remember to bring a coat. What do other moms do? I forgot a coat, got to the grocery store where the car seat doesn't fit and wrapped a blanket around my DS once I put him in the cart until we got into the store.
He is 7 mths, 19lbs 28 inches and the Graco says I can use the seat until 30lbs or 30 inches.

Well, I've said it before (and I'm sure I'll say it again) we are NOT sticklers for much in this house, but carseat safety is something you don't mess around with.
My DH is an EMT with the FDNY, not only is he trained in car seat instillation/safety, but he has seen this happen where a baby was ejected because they were wearing a thick coat in the carseat.
As for what you do, you warm the car, you take DC out and put them in the seat and then put the coat on when you get to your destination. As we all know, cold does not make you sick. This is what we do with our DS.
