Gramercy Park Review

Since this is the new place and many people were asking, I thought I'd post a review.

My first retrieval was done at Dr.Batzofin's and as many of you know.... that place is like a five star hotel Chat Icon I was very happy there last time and was disappointed to know the lab changed and we wouldn't be using them for this retrieval.

I went in today VERY nervous as I always am for these kinds of things. On our way into the building, we met the doctor who was walking in at the same time (I forget his name... really nice guy though!). He was very friendly and personable, and I immediately felt comfortable! I told him how nervous I was and he reassured us it would be quick and I'd be out soon.

We went up into the waiting room and were given papers to fill out. Since I had an early appointment (6:45am!), we were the only patients there. Everything was done VERY fast, which I liked! Since I get so nervous for these things, I just like to get in and out. Once I was done filling out the papers, I was immediately brought back to use the bathroom, get changed, and within minutes I was in the procedure room with everyone there waiting for me. I literally did not wait for ANYTHING this morning! I met the anesthesiologist who was very sweet and made small-talk while I was getting prepped to fall asleep.

The recovery room is actually connected to the procedure room. Once I woke up, I only had to be walked a very short distance and they got my DH for me. Once in recovery we were more or less on our own, but if we needed anything, all we had to do was ask. My DH asked if I could have some cookies- and where most places will give you Lorna Doones, this place cracked out the good stuff. Oreos. Chat Icon

I have to say... I am a ball of nerves before ANY medical procedure (except IUIs.. I'm a pro at that! Chat Icon Chat Icon ) and I felt extremely comfortable today.

I will admit... part of this was due to the fact that our appointment was very early and we were the only ones there. It was a very "personalized" experience since everyone there was literally just there for us. I also had the whole recovery room to myself, which was nice.... though I know that's not always the case. It was a smaller office space than the Batzofin lab, but I found it cozy. I left there today VERY happy with my experience- Though, I do hope today was my last retrieval (at least for a while! Chat Icon )

Even though the experience was a little different from Dr.Batzofin's, I thought it was just as good. After all, Dr.B would never steer anyone wrong!

They actually had him do it after the ER while I was in recovery. He saw me for a few mins, we had a mini celebration over our 30 eggs, and then he went to do his business Chat Icon

Not long at all!!! I arrived at 6:20 for my 6:45 er and was on my way home by 8:00!!!! This was one thing I really liked, because the waiting around can make you crazy! It was very in and out, and that was with having to drain about 50 follies!! I didn't feel rushed though. I was told to leave when I felt ready.

Well you have an idea leading up to it of approximately when it will be, but you officially find out 2 days before and then you do the trigger that night. Chat Icon I'm so excited for you to get started!!
