Grammar help needed
I feel really stupid asking this question but...
If I am going to write:
The school and its students.....
Is there an apostrophe somewhere in the word its?
ETA: Should it be its'?
Thanks

Re: Grammar help needed
No, if you ever think you need the apostrophe, then replace it with "it is" and that will tell you if there is an apostrophe or not.

Re: Grammar help needed
its - is used to indicate possessive - no need for an apostrophe

Re: Grammar help needed
To be honest, I usually change the wording (not because of questioning the its or its', but because the students don't really belong to the school). How about instead, "The students at PS 87 (or whatever)..."
