Grand Jury Suffolk County 3/24

Has anyone gone there with the excuse of being a new mom to get out of it. I work at home twice a week with no one else to watch my 6 month old twins. I was able to get a letter from work stating my hours but I am afraid they are going to make me stay.

What is it like? Do they question you when you get there like regular jury duty? I have never done this before and I am clueless...

I dont want to do 4 weeks..

How old are your kids? You can tell them that you have babies and don't have any childcare.

My gf told the guy that answers the phone that she nurses her baby and doesn't have a sitter and cannot leave the baby for too long because she is his main source of nutrition. The guy asked NO questions lol

I think you can defer it, but there is no getting out of it unless you don't speak English...

At least that's what they said last time I went there...

The only way to get out of it is death

DW got out of Grand Jury last year. Sent a letter in explaining that she is the only care-giver for DC (she didn't actually write "DC".. Chat Icon Chat Icon ). I'm not sure how long she's excused, but she's off the hook for a little while.

I am the main caregiver for my dd and just this week returned a juror summons by stating that and I enclosed a copy of DD's birth cert. I had to do this a couple of times before. As long as you are the main caregiver they excuse you until they are going to school.
