Grapes
Ok so whats the deal with grapes?
I have given them to Aidan (13.5 months) peeled and halved and he loves em.
I just started buying them again because he had been on a strawberry kick and that seems to be fading so I wanted something different.
I didn't peel them this time but cut up each grapes so they were in 8 (or more if large) pieces each.
Is the skin still a choking hazard this way? He seems totally fine with it. He is using his teeth very well, his molars are in and all.

Re: Grapes
I think it would still be a choking hazard. JMO - I would peel them.

Re: Grapes
I am a pediatric feeding therapist and do not reccommend grapes for a couple of reasons. The skin is slippery and can easily slip down a young child's throat. The skin is not easy to pierce with baby teeth and if it does not pierce when the chikd tries it will slip in the mouth. The shape of a grape is corklike and has a corklike effect if it does slip. Grapes do not dissolve so if it does get stuck it maintains it's original form and that can be trouble. Most child care centers and therapuetuc centers are not allowed to serve grapes at all (along with hot dog, sausage, and peas).
It is a good idea to cut the grape and peel it if he/she really does like it.

Re: Grapes
Thank you both for your response...
I would never think of giving them whole to any child under at least 4.
What I am saying is that I cut them up in little bits, and does this still pose a risk? Below is what I am talking about.... that is ONE grape cut up next to a Goldfish and Gerber Puff so you get some idea of the size.
I guess I will just peel them ahead of time cause once he sees me washing them he goes nuts!
