Re: graves disease after dc#1 and ttc-ing for dc#2
I used to Graves Disease (was diagnosed at age 18). I had a very severe case though. I was on medication pretty much since 18, and my levels never dropped. I wanted to ttc, but my endo recommended I get my thyroid removed (with my severe case, I would have had to have the surgery while preggos). My thyroid was the size of a baseball and hard as a rock when they removed it. I now take synthroid and got preggos within 2 mos of the surgery.
With a mild case, you should be ok BUT make sure you tell your endo. There are two different meds to take to treat Graves. PTU is NOT ok to take while preggos.
FM with any questions regarding Graves. I know it too well....

I had mild Graves' disease, was treated for it, and went on to get pregnant twice without assistance. FM me if you want more info!

My best friends cousin has a 6 mo. old and has recently been diagnosed with grave's disease. She went to 2 dr's and both told her she would need radiation and to take medicine the rest of her life and b/c of this would not be able to have another child. Not sure if the result is the same for everyone though.
