Great Book / Reproductive Immunology
Im not sure if this has been posted before but i found this so interesting that i had to share in case anyone wants to look into this themselves.
For a while i've heard about people seeking out help from Reproductive Immunologist and decided to look into it further (mainly due to the fact that I have Hashimotos and am concerned that it will effect my fertility)
The only RI dr that i heard of was Dr. Kwak-Kim in Chicago and when i started researching her, i learned she studied under Dr. Alan Beer, the pioneer of RI. So i just purchased the book "Is Your Body Baby Friendly" by Dr. Beer (who is now deceased) and am completely fascinated by it
Im only 1/4 of the way into the book and i just find it so interesting. Dr. Beer states that most of all unexplained infertiltiy and miscarriages have a cause and that testing should be done after a 1st miscarriage not after 2 or 3. He believes that having endo, pcos, thyroid issues, ciruculation issues all could have impact on fertility b/c of the immune system implications. There is so much info in this book i cant write it all but i would defiantely recommend reading this for anyone that is not getting anywhere with their current treatments - it may help to find out what the real problem is.
Anyone who has had any experience with RI please feel free to comment and add your input - i would love the hear if anyone has had success with this kind of treatment.
Here is the link for the book

dr. braverman is also a reproductive immunolgist. after my second chemical he did a bunch of testing and i found out that i have a few different immune issues. he also believes that PCOS can be linked to a bunch of the immune and thrombophilia issues. he even drew me a chart of how PCOS can be a cause or effect of some of the issues that i have.
anyway i am def going to check out this book, thanks for posting this!! not sure who you see now, but if you want to see a reproductive immunologist in NY, i highly recommend dr. b!!!!

Sounds like this book will be right up your alley. The book does mention that some drs that do immune testing only do it to a certain extent and that much more is required - so this book can help you know if there was anything that was missed.

ITA. I was treated by Dr B as well after 2 m/c. Turns out I have immune issues that caused them. After being treated, Im now 16 weeks pregnant.
Many doctors still dont "believe" in immune issues causing m/c but I know I wouldnt be pregnant if it wasnt for Dr B and his research and treatment.

Re: Great Book / Reproductive Immunology
Dr Kwak-Kim was my immune Dr and worked with my NY and SC Dr's throughout my pregnancy. I read this book as well. Dr Beer was a genius!
ETA: Just wanted to add-she was covered by my insurance. So my DH and i flew Southwest for $70 each into Midway. We drove to her office about an hour away. I had about 3 hours of testing and exam done. She sat and talked with us. Then we drove to Chicago and stayed for the weekend and had a great time. About 2 weeks later she called me with the results and thyen wrote a letter to my IVF Dr who agreed to follow her protocol(lovenox, baby asprin, prednisone and vitamin e)

No problem - there is alot of mention of secondary infertility - that sometimes after having a child - its sets off cells against pregnancy

Thanks so much for posting - ive heard alot about her and have to admit i am very curious. I have heard that the blood draw is pretty substantial - over 30 vials right? Do they do alot of testing on DH? Mine is terrible and after only 2 vials so not sure how that would go!

Enjoy - some of its a little heavy with the medical terminology but otherwise i just find it fascinating! And its not as much to read as you think - half the book is just notes of different references for the info in the book.
Please post your thoughts / comments -- im curious as to what others think
