Great credit card perk we didn't know about until now..(might apply to many on here!)
DH called about lowering our interest on the mastercard (its a citibank mastercard). Not only did they lower the interest 8%, they heard my son crying in the background and go "oh did you recently have a baby?". He answers yes...they told him to hold on while they transfered him to someone who then told us because its considered a change of life event (buying a new home, having a baby etc.. considered change of life) they will pay our minimum balance for the next 2 months.
We had no clue about this benefit but were psyched. We put a bunch of home charges on the credit card so the minimum balace was about $150. So they are virtually paying $300 off for us.
Just wanted to pass it on! The credit card posts reminded me to post about it...

Will they pay it even if you make a payment? If not, make sure your accrued interest on the balance won't outweight the benefit.
Otherwise, that's great! And congrats on the new baby, too!

Good question...yes, they will. We are making the minimum payment as well as them paying...its basically them giving us $150 for the next 2 months whether or not we pay as well. Thought it was a cool perk.
And thank you!! My poor baby is 8 months old and i've hardly posted about him...not on much anymore, i'll have to update pics!

Do you have any idea when this benefit started? DH has this card and we made a lot of home related purchases on it.

you are paying for that benefit, it's not free. i would dig out old statements to see how much you have paid for it.

I was offered something like this once and realized that I had been paying for it as well. Something like $6/m. Just be careful!

Yes, I got an email about this benefit and when I looked into it further I realized that by accepting it, you have signed up for some program that costs you money in the end. You gotta remember - there is no such thing as getting something for nothing.
