Bay Shore Schools arent that great, imo.

and there is no map that comes up. it might be on a busy street-

but its a nice house, if you like the Bayshore SD I would go see it.

eta: I saw it said harrison ave - on mapquest it didnt look like a busy street.

no map - that is a dead giveaway. it could be right on top of a parkway or RR tracks

Bayshore is being re-built i guess you can say. There are many beutiful homes in bayshore and the school district is improving. The village is looking much better, but there are some rough patches still. That house may be in one of the not so great area's.

We're not too concerned with school districts since we are not planning on children, but your right about where it might be located. Chat Icon
I'm not really looking for a house, more like peeking and waiting for the right time for us. But I figured I could definitely learn a thing or two from you guys. Thanks!! Chat Icon

I love Bay Shore and know it pretty well. You wouldn't believe how much the town has been transformed in the last 12 months and it looks like they are still developing.

Even though the SD doesn't have a good reputation, they have wonderful programs available. We would definitely have bought in Bay Shore, if the right thing came up, but we were very specific in wanting south of Montauk and close to main street. The schools didn't bother us, because we don't plan on having kids and if we did we would send them to Catholic school. I am aware that the SD affects the value of homes, but some of the most expensive homes on LI are in Bay Shore.

Anyway, I checked the street location and to be honest, Harrison Avenue is not one of the areas we would have considered. It's north of Union and close to the railroad tracks. There are definitley some nice, good value homes availalbe in Bay Shore, but I would keep looking.

This is just my personal opinion and you could always do a drive-by to make sure for your self.

the best advice i can give you is just go to drive around the neighborhood. we all like/dislike areas for different reasons.

good luck!

Thanks so much for the insight. We both have the same interests when it comes to house hunting. I'm looking for something on the southshore, preferrably south of Sunrise. I really appreciate all your help!

I live in Bay Shore, but in Brentwood schools, which I think are worse than Bay Shore. My area is not so great- my street is pretty busy- but it's worth checking it out!.
Cute house!

No problem. If you are interested in Bay Shore check out the Lawrence Farms and Brightwater Farms sections. We found what we were looking for in IslipChat Icon

It also looks really small and there is NO property - .15 acres - a fair amount less than a quarter acre so most of the land is probably under the house or what you see in front. We looked at a house that looked similar from the outside though appeared larger than this, and the living room was so small you couldn't even fit a full size sofa in it - they had a loveseat and chair - that's it.

It's in between Sunrise Hwy and the LIRR.
I would check it out anyway though. It couldn't hurt.

The house is here
