Great News---Adam is coming home!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone--
I know I have not posted updates in a long time but I didn't want to until I had some good news for a change. My brother is still considered to be in a coma however they have removed his trach completely and he is breathing on his own. He opens his eyes but not consistent but he is still not really responsice. The docs and nurses feel he hears everything. SO that is where we are with his condition.
The Good news is that we have found a nursing facility that will take him. It was very difficult but with the powers of connections we have one. His new home for the forseeable future will be Cold Sprin Hills in Woodbury. They are opening a new state of the art wing on Monday and he will be one of the first patients to be living there and he will have a private room. We were hoping for Gurwin but this came up and we weren't saying no. This is fantastic since it is 5 minutes from my house and 10 minutes from my mother. My mother can finally come home and start her life again which includes grieving for my father. You don't know how long I have been waiting for this moment. I thought it was never going to come..
They should be home within 10 days. We are starting to get the medi-vac in motion. I will tell you that it costs a small fortune but it will be worth every penny! My mother now has to pack up everything she brought and tie up loose ends very quickly...
We will be keeping his home for a little while loner because we will have to fly back for different things but for now New York will be my brothers new home. I know he really did not want to come back here in this way but this is the place for him..
Please keep those prayers coming because I believe they have worked thus far. He is definately not out of the woods yet but this is the beginning of a new chapter in his life as well as ours...

This is great news. There are so many new therapies to get him going. Just being close will mean so much, you will see.

Great news!!!1 . It sounds like it is truly for the best for him to return to NY. I'm glad your mom will be able to return to NY to grieve for your dad and support her daughter. Best of luck. Hope everything goes smooth with the transition.

This is great news. I know someone who it there now. He was hit buy a car 2 years ago. He is in his mid 20's and the family loves the care that he gets. He is doing so much better. I wish you brother the best of luck.

I am so glad to hear this. WE didn't know anyone who knew of this place. I feel a little better to know that there is someone else who is younger than most patients there... My mother will be so thrilled to hear this...
Oh thank you to all that responded to this post.. I am so thankful to have wonderful people on this board keeping up with our story..
