Great place for dinner with the little ones
We like to go out to eat at least once a week as a family, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Well, that has been a bit challenging lately. So, I thought that a Hibachi grill might be a good place to keep them occupied, and it was.
Both boys were mesmerized by the cook. Jack actually ate almost ALL of his steak dinner (I almost passed out on the floor) and Tyler ate a ton of steak, chicken, veggies, and we shared a fried banana
We will def. be doing it again! Just wanted to put it out there because I never would have thought of this if we didn't just go to a Hibachi Grill a few weeks ago

there are lots of Hibachi grills around. We like to go to Miyako in Hicksville. (on the border of Hicksvile and Bethpage). There is also one we like in Garden City on Franklin Ave...I forget the name. And I think there is a BeniHana near The SOurce Mall (never been there though).

Yes, Miyako was the one in Hicksville that we went to - it was delicious! I didn't realize there was one in GC. We'll have to go there with my parents one night!

Re: Great place for dinner with the little ones
Whenever we take DS there (only twice in like 2 years), he is terrified of the fire so we stopped going. I am waiting for him to grow out of it. He is 2 1/2 now

Re: Great place for dinner with the little ones
How funny! We went to Shiro's last night and it was the most enjoyable dinner we have had at a restaurant with DS lol. And he looooved the rice and noodles (he is basically a vegetarian-by his choice lol). He is usually a terrible eater. I'd def go back. It was so good!

We love shiros but I haven't taken the girls - that is great to hear that they liked it. DH has been very against it b.c he was scared the girls would be trying to touch the grill.

That's what we thought - Tyler was close to the corner so he was really far away from the grill, and so was Jack - he didn't try to reach once. He was kind of mesmerized

Last time we went to Gasho (4 years ago) I got drops of brown oil all over my sweater. I couldn't figure out how it got there (we hadn't started eating anything yet) and the cook pointed out to me that it was dripping from the ceiling - so of course during the rest of the meal I was watching to make sure that it wasn't dripping in our food, drinks or the grill.
Later on during the same meal the table next to us started freaking out - one person came to our table and told us that bugs came running out when they dumped the mushrooms on the hot grill.
Needless to say we haven't been back.

Years ago, we went to Gasho that used to be by Roosevelt Field.
I got turned off seeing the cook use the same spatula for raw chicken and the cooked food afterwards. Plus we were the last two at the table to be served and we got the skimpiest bits of food compared to the others at the table (NOT even with us). It was a really unfair way to dish out the food!
We never went back either!

Re: Great place for dinner with the little ones
We went with DS last month (he was 6 months old) and he was REALLY scared of all the noise! Thankfully he seemed to get used to it by about midway through with lots of bouncing him and smiling at him and a little bit of nursing. I actually thought we would have to leave to get him to calm down.
Hopefully next time he'll be fine from the beginning because we really enjoy hibachi restaurants.
