Great skin?
I realize this is a vague question
But how do people get really great, glowing skin?
Facials or some other type of "treatment"? I don't even know what types of treatments exist (and I've never gotten a facial in my life - I'm really in the dark with this stuff). I'd be willing to spend the money to see an improvement.
Any particular lotions or serums? Or is all of that stuff a scam.
I feel like although I don't have BAD skin, it's just kind of blah. I have some red marks from old zits, a few random dark spots, stuff like that.

Great skin?
I think its a lot of factors
One is genetics.
Never go in the sun.
I think what you eat plays a big part in how your skin looks as well.

Great skin?
Dang. So there are no miracle fixes I can pay for? lol.
I definitely used to be bad with the sun when I was younger, but now I know better!
ETA: my eating habits are so-so. Definitely not great, but not horrible either. I KNOW I need to drink more water though.

Great skin?
I really think it's genetics
I don't necessarily have super glowing skin, but I do have very good skin even though I abuse it-I never use creams, I'm constantly in the sun, I sleep in my makeup, etc.
But, my mother has the same skin and looks a good 15 years younger than she is. She's somewhat starting to look a little older, but she's 57...

Re: Great skin?
I think water and a good moisturizer. When I drink more water, after some weeks some people have made comments about how my skin looks. Moisturizer doesn't have to be expensive (at least in my case, expensive ones cause a reaction, like a rush) I use cetaphil, but one day a friend gave me one from Trader Joe's, and sometimes I get compliments it about my skin when I use it... go figure

I agree, I have great skin. No lines or wrinkles over 40. I don't use anything. Wash my face in the morning. My mom same.

Great skin?
Genetics. I do take care of mine with creams and serums and the like, but I am a former smoker, and I still suntan in the summer and I am always mistaken for much younger than I am. My mom has good skin, my grandma died at 88 with hardly any wrinkles and she did not have a skincare routine, and my great grandmother had good skin when she died in her late 80's also.

Great skin?
In my experience I notice that my skin clears up when I only wear makeup when I have to. I recently had the flu so I was makeup free for maybe 2 weeks. I noticed one morning how much smoother my skin looked and it brightened up, if that makes sense. So now I try to only wear concealer to cover up my dark circles (they are bad) and Dave the foundation for when I have somewhere to go and need to look presentable.

Great skin?
I think it's genetics. I am starting to get the same exact lines that my mom and maternal aunts have. My siblings also have the same lines.
I moisturize and use rentinol A, but haven't seen any improvement.

I dont have any evidence to share right now but its the entire practice of yoga (not just physical/hatha yoga). Meditation and breathing excercises do wonders. Also the "lion" pose is supposed to be good for face/skin
Sleep is another one i should list!

Re: Great skin?
I agree with genetics, and definitely sunscreen everyday/staying out of the sun and lots of water but I'm a firm believer if you're one of these celebrities where money is no object, you can probably achieve it also. Lasers, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, fillers, etc all these new technologies can definitely give you better skin and help maintain it. It's part of their "maintenance" and way too expensive for us to do as much as they do, and time consuming!

Re: Great skin?
All genetics
Not letting your skin dry out, never using soap on your face help keep the skin looking more youthful. But it really is genetics. my mother didn't start to look old until her 70s and even now, when she does her make up , she can pass for 60. She never owned sunscreen, smoked 2 packs a day for 50 years and laughs when I buy $60 cream for my face

Re: Great skin?
I think genetics are to credit for people who have good skin w/o doing anything but there there are things you can do to help if you weren't blessed with good genes.
The best my skin looked was when I was in the hospital for 2 days. I think it was the IV fluids & not wearing makeup.
I am pretty lazy with skincare, but from what I have read, it seems the things that help the most are sunscreen, hydration (internal & external) retinols microdermabrasion
There are all sorts of procedures out there. Most of them seem to be more trouble than they are worth, but there are chemical peels, laser treatments, weird needling things that seem painful.

Re: Great skin?
I struggle with my skin but honestly, I've noticed it always looks the best when I'm drinking water and the absolute worst after a night of drinking (dehydrated?). I literally have a huge wrinkle on my forehead that ONLY pops up after I've been drinking for a night.
