Great South Bay music festival in Patchogue, would kids really enjoy it?
Can anyone tell me if a child would really enjoy this festival? Not sure whether to go or not.

Re: Great South Bay music festival in Patchogue, would kids really enjoy it?
I know people do take kids to it, but I personally won't spend that much $ to take my sons to an all-day event they most likely would only last an hour or two at. My boys are still little, 20mos and 3yrs and I think I'd be chasing them the whole time and between the bay, the strangers, the little stream by the playground, and the loud music, I'd be so stressed out.....jmo.
Eta: our good friends live close enough to hear the music and see the fireworks, so we may just enjoy from their home. ;)

I haven't been there, but I agree with the above poster, primarily if you have a really small child.
We live close to Tanner Park and tried to take our 2.5 year-old to the Beatles tribute concert a couple weeks ago. He barely lasted an hour, and that was with toys and DH and I taking turns walking him all around the park.
It got to the point where we said lets just head home.
We had a similar experience when we tried to take him to the Jones Beach Air Show earlier this year.
He did not notice the music at the concert, nor did he even notice the planes at Jones Beach.
I think for the sake of those around you, leave the little ones at home or with a sitter!

I live right by the festival (walking distance) and have a 7 month old. I took him over there & he enjoyed it but after about 30 min we were bored and he was getting fussy.

Thanks all. I passed on it. Even though DD behaves well and likes music, we felt it wasnt going to be fun enough for her.

Hi,
Today, in Stony Brook at the Museum there is a FREE Child type day. There will be face painting, crafts AND the people from the old show in the 70's, Magic Garden will be performing, (loved the show) we are bringing Chloe. Just thought I'd pass it along should you be looking for a place to go.
