great vacation spots within driving distance w/3 kids

I am in desperate need of a vacation and we have a timeshare to use for this year. We are finishing our basement so a nice beach vacation (caribbean) will have to wait until 2016.

BUT where are there nice vacation spots (with kids) within driving distance that you'd recommend? kids are 6 1/2, 3 and 4 months old.

Willing to go from Maine to probably SC.

help please.

Which timeshare do you belong to? Interval or RCI? I take lots if drivable trips so I'm sure I can give you some good suggestions.

And what time if year are you hoping for? That will make a big difference in what is available.

I think Williamsburg with kids is great. We were able to get a 2bedroom in July last year and drove down. In fact, we bought park tickets for unlimited admission to Bush Gardens and Water country around this time if year for a steal. We did a park evey other day, hung at the resort in between. The kids loved it.
Myrtle Beach is good too, but a longer drive and you'll have fewer resorts to choose from. If you want Myrtle you should try to book ASAP.
A lot of the other beachy places like Virgina Beach, North Carolina, Ocean City will probably not have availability for the summer. But if you're willing to pull the kids from school, you may be able to find some May dates.
If you're interested in more local, we like both Minerals Resort in Jersey and Villa Roma in the Catskills. The kids especially like VR because they have a lot of activities.

Myrtle Beach. The Sheraton Broadway Plantation is in II and is really nice (but, it's not on the beach).

Marriott also has a property there (I believe on the beach).
