Greek Mommies or anyone who baptized DC in Greek Orthodox Church
Is there a certain age that a baby must be before he or she is baptized in a Greek Orthodox church? My son is 1 month old and I was wondering when I should consider scheduling his Christening. Thank you!
Also, if you already baptized your DC, where did you hold the reception afterwards? I am looking for some ideas. Thanks again ladies!!!!

I don't think there is a certain age but usually it's done between 6 months to a year.
My son (2.5 now) I baptized him at 6 months...I did it early because his godmother was getting married that summer and she had her shower in the spring so I did not want to interfere with that. We had his christening at Fox Hollow.
WE are christening my daughter at the end of June...she will be 9 months. I am doing it at Jericho Terrace.
I know in Greece sometimes they wait till after a year...the children walk to the alter!
Do whatever works...but def start looking for halls. I had a hard time finding a date that church could accomodate.
My koumbara just booked hers for November her daughter is 1 month also. There are alot of days the church won't let you baptize.
Good Luck Alexia

I baptized DS when he was 9 months old. It was just personal preference. I think your supposed to do it before the age of 3 but most people do it around 1 (either just before or just after). I agree with the previous post - Do what works for you.
I had the reception at BLUE in Blue Point. It was really nice, the food was great, and it was reasonably priced. They closed the entire place down for our christening. It was great.
