Green tea safe?
Does anyone know if it's safe to drink green tea while pregnant?

Re: Green tea safe?
Green tea is normally very high in caffeine (some are decaf) so I'd avoid it during the 1st trimester and then drink in moderation after that.

Re: Green tea safe?
It can inhibit the function of folic acid. I would stay away from it.

Re: Green tea safe?
As a pp said, I'd stay away. Green tea & black tea inhibit some folic acid absorption.

Re: Green tea safe?
All herbal teas are off limits during pregnancy. Just have a regular decaf Lipton or Earl Grey.

Re: Green tea safe?
Green tea is *fine*, decaf or not. Caffeine is not the issue. Green tea is not unsafe, but it DOES block the absorption of folic acid which is super important to take while pregnant. Just drink regular plain old Lipton type tea, decaf or not is your choice.
