Greenport, Long Island
I was thinking of taking a day trip there next Thursday when we are off for the Jewish holidays....just wondering besides the wineries what we could do to spend a few hours there and maybe get some lunch somewhere.

I would definitely go to Crabby Jerry's if you're in a casual mood. You can hear the music from the bar across the way without being on top of it and the food is decent.
Have fun!

Re: Greenport, Long Island
During the week after Labor Day it's going to be more quiet. I don't think that there will be live music on the dock. Regardless, Greenport has really turned itself around. My DH is from Greenport and when we first started dating 10 years ago, it was nothing like it is today. If it's nice out, you can go over to the Harborfront Deli and get your lunch to go. Take it across the street to the grassy area that overlooks the water and have a picnic. When you are done, you can go to one of three ice cream places, but Flavors is our favorite and has a more 50's style ambience. The leather store sells Brighton jewelry and has a large selection. We were out there on Saturday and I got an awesome necklace. There are quite a few antique stores and unique botiques. There's even a Starbuck's out there, which I never thought would happen. On the way home you can stop at Briemere's Farm and get "the best" pies!!!
Have fun!!

Too bad about Crabby Jerry's...we might have to stop in for a drink and an appetizer since DH"s name is Jerry!
